Wow, Week 13

Tripawds is a user-supported community. Thank you for your support!

Wow the week is almost over and I haven’t posted anything new! Mom and Dad have been really busy and I can’t type so I had to wait until they could help me! Another good week. I survived Mom and Dad being home for five days in a row. It took a toll on me and made me really tired, but I made it. I know Mom and Dad were a little worried about me on Monday because I wasn’t my normal self, but I just needed rest. I am feeling much better now.

Are we there yet?

On Sunday, Dillon and I got run and play at our favorite sports park. Before my surgery we went to this park almost every Sunday. I really missed going there. We went so often that I could recognize the roads we travelled and I would always whine and run around the back of the Trailblazer when we were almost there. We had so much fun on Sunday, but I think it was what pushed me over the edge and wore me out.

What a beautiful day

The rest of the week has been pretty low key. Today Mom decided to mess with Dillon and I and she spiked our hair. What the heck, we are boys, we don’t play beauty salon!! Don’t tell her, but we did actually like it.

We went on our walks this morning and Mom actually took me first. She usually takes Dillon first because I am the patient one and will wait my turn. Well I was not very patient today. I am sick of waiting my turn, so I forced her to take me before Dillon. Prior to surgery I liked to carry my Flexi leash in my mouth. Sometimes I would carry it the whole walk. I have learned it isn’t as easy as it use to be. That Flexi is really heavy and it swings too much. It tends to hit me in the head when I am hopping. I tried to carry it this morning and got frustrated. It wasn’t going my way!

I struggled for a short time and Mom decided to carry the leash for me and she gave me a surprise. She had an extra glove in her pocket and she let me carry it for the whole walk. I always love carrying things in my mouth!!

During our walk we stopped to admire our neighbor’s Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. Snoopy would be so proud!!

We were almost home and we stopped to talk to our friend Cheney. He too is a golden retriever. Cheney had to go to the vet the other day and they stole his manhood. Sorry Cheney, but atleast you still have all your legs! Cheney didn’t understand the consequences of licking. He got to wear the cone.

We finally made it home. What a wonderful adventure. Dillon and I couldn’t stay awake while Mom got ready for work. So we cashed out in the bathroom with her.

    Peyton!
You write the best posts and you always have such cool photos. I want my Mom to spike my hair! That looks really cool.

I can’t believe how much alike we are. I like to carry things in my mouth on my walks also and it usually is one of my pawrent’s gloves. I am having a hard time with the hoppy-walk. I can’t tell you how many times I have cracked my noggin on the bottom of my mom’s desk, just trying to lay down.

Poor Cheney is right! I hate the cone. I have had to wear one before, because I am a licker. In fact, my mom just realized yesterday that if she leaves me alone in her office for even a minute, I frantically lick my incision and make it all red and sore and now it is leaking again. I have to wear a t-shirt all the time. I hate the t-shirt, but not as much as the cone.

My pop saw a t-shirt in one of my dog catalogues that said, “It’s all fun and games until someone ends up in a cone.” That made my mom laugh and laugh…I don’t know what is so funny about that.

That Dillon is a character…spunky kid. Try to hang on to your balls and gloves. He seems to always take things away from you..Here’s what ya do. When your pawrents aren’t looking, just very quietly curl your lip at him and show a little teeth…gotta keep the young whipper snappers in line.

Be good! At least when your mom is watching.

Did you get to see the Pixar movie “UP!” ? It talks about “the cone of shame.” It’s actually a very very good movie for dog lovers. Caira Sue was very lucky, she only had to wear a soft cone for half a day. But that’s because the rescue kittens thought it was a climbing toy and disaster ensued. Then she got really cool T-shirts from Goodwill that had guitars and skulls on it. Adam said “no frilly girly clothes for my girl. My girl is TUFF!” So guitars and skulls it was.
Peyton, you are a most beautiful Golden. Your face is so precious. I’d give you two of my gloves, just to get the chance to meet you someday. I’m so glad you got to go to your favorite park!

Opie~ My pawrents saw that cone t-shirt too. I think my Mom almost bought it!! I was lucky I only had to wear a soft inflatable tube around my neck. My pawrents had to blow it up and it was like my own personal pillow that followed me all the time. I only wore it when I was home alone.

I too have a hard time with the hoppy walk. Sometimes I feel so uncoordinated. When I go for a walk, I have found a faster pace to be better because then it just flows. When I try to just walk, I think about it too much and trip over my own feet. It’s crazy! My brother is a spunky kid. He is getting better, but he has his moments. I always hear Mom telling people he is her challenge puppy. That must mean I was perfect 🙂 !

Caira Sue~ My Mom tried to watch the movie UP on Thanksgiving and it was too loud in the room, she couldn’t concentrate. Just as Mom was helping me type this, Dad came home and he had the movie UP with him! Looks like we all get to see it together. I can’t wait! Thanks for the compliments! I wish all of us lived close together so we could meet! How much fun would have? Glad you aren’t a frilly girl! My Mom use to buy girly collars for my Husky brother Bullet! He loved it, but I was embarrassed for him!

So good to see you enjoying the adventures is life. That glove looked pretty tasty. The hippity hop takes a bit to get down. When it is safe I no longer walk on a leash I need to travel at my very own pace and it it works best without a leash clipped to my collar.

  5.   Mackenzie's Mom Says:

Peyton and Dillion – love your spiked hair pictures! I think I need to try the spiked look on Mackenzie’s brother Kobe. I bet he would look so cute like you two. Peyton, we are so happy you are doing so well and got to go back to the park. Mackenzie’s been taking on a lot of new activities since her surgery too and by the end of the day she’s worn out. So I’m sure you’re like her, once you get your rest, you’re ready to go again!

  6.   zoesmom Says:

Peyton – you look like you are doing so well after surgery! It’s posts like this that keep our spirits up. Keep ’em coming! Pretty soon it will be YOU stealing that ball or glove away from Dillon with the way that you are healing, and then he’ll have some apologizing to do 🙂

  7.   gratefull Says:

Peyton you are a genius at writing your posts and putting up the pics:) It is always so inspiring and fun to read and to see you. My mom is trying to get the photo thing down and I think she actually got one up tonight, but she’s waiting to take more pictures when I don’t look so raw.
I have a brother Bailey and whenever i have a bone he whines to my mom so that he can have it, she tries to give him other bones, but he wants mine.I think he likes mine better because i chew them up so well, anyway last night he was pulling this stunt and i got so mad i growled at him and asked mom to put me outside with my bone. I could still hear him whining inside until mom put peanut butter on a new bone just to get him to be quiet!! Brothers..ugghh. Well actually i love him and we have fun playing most of the time. Hope you had a good weekend and thanks again for the fun post! your friend Buddy
