I’m a Rock Star

Tripawds is a user-supported community. Thank you for your support!

Thursday was an awesome day! Another trip to CSU for my follow-up blood work and it looks great again! Hooray! Chemo and cancer won’t slow me down! It has been two weeks and I haven’t had to experience any of my bad days!!! For those of you who asked if my bad days are a side effect of the chemo it doesn’t appear that way. My bad days are just random and Mom is starting to track them on my pill calendar. Maybe we can get to the bottom of them!

Lookin' Good

When we arrived at CSU we were out front doing our business when we heard someone from behind ask “is that Peyton?”. We turned around and were greeted by a wonderful couple. It was Yampa’s pawrents, Jeff and Lisa. They were just leaving after dropping Yampa off for his amputation appointment. Sadly, we weren’t able to meet Yampa, he was already inside preparing for his big day. Oh how I hope to meet Yampa at one of his trips to CSU. I did spread the word to all my friends at CSU to treat him good! We can’t wait for an update!

We went inside to meet up with Dr. Barrera. I still get very excited every time I see her. She is so happy and sweet every time Dillon, Mom and I go to CSU and it makes us feel good. She took me to the back to do the usual examine and blood work and returned me to Mom and Dillon. While we were sitting there another Dr. and man came over to meet us. They wanted to meet me because he was there dropping off his yellow lab, Juno, for a leg amputation. Mom talked to him for a long time. She made sure to mention the tripawd website and how wonderful all of us tripawds are and how much information we have posted. We hope to see a new blog for Juno with updates and pictures!

Dr. Barrera said everyone wants to meet me and I am still here today because I am a Rock Star! She knows how tough I am and I am a fighter. I’m not letting this cancer get the best of me! Wow now I have a new status to live up to: Peyton the Tripawd Rock Star!!!

We left CSU with a warm feeling inside knowing we could help two families feel better about the amputation decision. We are keeping our paws crossed for Yampa and Juno!

When we got home Mom took me for a walk and it was a beautiful day. We saw Cheney and he no longer has to wear the cone of shame. He was excited to great us and he looked at me funny because I was carrying a glove in my mouth (new walking ritual ever since I tried stealing the little girl’s glove a couple weeks ago). Mom is great about having my glove ready when I want it (she’s wrapped around my paw). Cheney sniffed my glove, thought about taking it, and made the right decision. He realized my Rock Star status and left it alone! When we got home Dillon was ready for his walk. Mom lets Dillon loose at the end of the walk so he can run through the park like a wild man. While they were in the park Dillon spent a lot of time sniffing around some juniper bushes. Mom kept calling him to come home and suddenly Dillon popped his head out of the bushes with a grin from ear to ear. Dillon was holding a blue Chuck-It ball in his mouth that he and Dad lost weeks ago before the last big snow storm. I think Dillon knew where it was all along and was just waiting for the perfect time to bring it out of the bushes. Mom tried to coax Dillon home and he just layed down in the middle of the park and wouldn’t budge. Mom knew she owed us a trip to the park and so she walked aross the street and invited me to join. Hooray for Chuck-It ball time at the park! It has been weeks since we got to go across the street for ball time. The snow was crusty at the park, but we didn’t care it was just nice getting out and playing!

Saturday was a pretty uneventful day. We went for our usual walks and played at park with Dad before he had to go to work. He brought a Frisbee for me to chew on while Dillon chased the ball. Don’t worry no barfing up Frisbee! I try not to swallow the pieces anymore. A little later Grandma Belinda came over to see us! She stayed for a little while and told Mom how good I looked! If only I could talk, I would have told her it was because I am a Rock Star!!!

Sunday was a really fun day! It started out like any other normal day and then Mom gave us Frosty Paws ice cream. She thought it would take our minds off of the dog eating machine. It worked for like 5 minutes and the dog eating machine was around for a lot longer then that! Good try Mom, but we still hate that thing! In the afternoon, Mom and Dad got our things ready to go for a drive. Mom asked Dad if we should take the tripod and Dad chuckled and said of course we are taking Peyton the tripawd. I think he was making a joke at my expense?!? So they loaded us up in the Trailblazer and we started out on our drive. This was not an ordinary drive in town, we were going towards the mountains. We drove for a long distance and pulled off. The park up the Big Thompson Canyon that Dad wanted to take us to was closed for the season. Darn it. Mom and Dad knew that Dillon and I were itchin’ to get out and explore so we drove further. We ended up at this cool picnic area where you could walk down to the river. We had a blast. The snow was a lot deeper than we thought and a couple times I fell in a hole, but I didn’t care. It was awesome! Dad decided to walk on the frozen river and of course Dillon and I had to follow. Golden see Golden do! This made Mom really nervous and she kept calling us to come back, we had lots of fun on this adventure! And no one fell in the river, so stop worrying Mom!

WOW! You had four balls in that one photo! I have only managed four balls in my mouth twice in my life and that was because one of the balls was popped! Yes peanut butter….always! More is more.

That is soooo cool that you got to meet Yampa’s folks and Juno’s too. Did ya know that the capital of Alaska is Juneau? Spelled different, but pronounced the same. I have never been there, but mom has. Anyway, I hope you and Dillon have a terrific Christmas!

Eat all of the lumpy peanut butter…it is good for you. But most important, steer clear of the dog eating machine! They are not to be trusted, even for a minute.

Colorado is sooo beautiful. Keep having fun and taking photos. I love seeing them. That’s cool you are a rock star. I am still trying to find my niche…All I know is that there is no way that I want to be stuck with “Sister Opie”. Yikes.

    Merry Christmas!

What Shelby didn’t tell you was that if she were around those balls there may have been a ball-hoarding fight! haha! Shelby collects everyone’s balls at the dog park and arranges them around herself (like the princess she is!). One time I counted 7 balls. None of them came with her! What a hoot.
I’m so glad things are going well. The pictures are beautiful (even if there is some of that cold white stuff in there).
    Have a lovely Christmas!
